We have some news! HYDROPHIL has recently started working on the rehabilitation of the water and wastewater system in the City of Naryn in the Kyrgyz Republic. We support Vodakanal Naryn, the local water supplier, as Project Implementation Support Consultant.
Naryn is the main town in the central part of Kyrgyzstan, with a population of 41,419 inhabitants in 2022. The town is surrounded by Tian Shen mountains which peak up to 7000 meters, and is developed along the Naryn River, the most important river in the country.
In 2020, EBRD, with the support of SECO, concluded a loan with the Kyrgyz Government benefitting the town of Naryn to improve the wastewater system. Now, HYDROPHIL has been hired by Vodokanal Naryn to prepare the technical designs, assist Vodokanal with tendering and select the construction companies. HYDROPHIL will also supervise the construction works and implement the Environmental and Social Action Plan.

The investment will primarily focus on extending the sewer networks, rebuilding the wastewater treatment plant and purchasing maintenance equipment. The investments will significantly improve the collection of wastewater (blackwater, greywater, and commercial wastewater) and its treatment.
The overall project concerns the installation of sewer pipes with a total length of 12.5 kilometres, two wastewater pumping stations and the construction of a new wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of 20,000 population equivalent at the location of the existing wastewater plant.
In May 2022, HYDROPHIL’s team of experts visited all future construction sites and held a kick-off meeting. During the first working week in Naryn, the main discussion topics were the main works to be carried out under this contract.
