Montenegro and Albania: ECA Regional Water Security Initiative – Water security diagnosis
Assignment location: Montenegro, Albania
Client: World Bank via International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis
Thomas Waclavicek recently traveled to present and discuss the preliminary results of the water security diagnosis in Montenegro and Albania in the frame of the World Bank’s Europe and Central Asia (ECA) Regional Water Security Initiative. The workshops took place on the 13th of December 2022, in Podgorica and on the 15th of December 2022 in Tirana.
The participants of both workshops were key stakeholders in the national water sector. A main aim of the workshops was to determine how future climate and socioeconomic trends might impact water security and the associated opportunities and risks.
The project is part of a comprehensive analysis of the national water sectors in the ECA Region and is funded by the World Bank. The project is led by the International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA). InterSus, a German consultancy, is also part of the consortium.
