Europe and Central Asia Regional Water Security Initiative: Development of an Assessment Methodology and Preparation of Diagnostic Reports

Water security is central to health, prosperity, and resilience. Yet, climate change and increasing water-related risks pose critical challenges worldwide.

Our project, founded on the World Bank’s Water Security Diagnostic Framework, focused on benchmarking water security across Europe and the Central Asian region. By conducting in-depth country assessments and regional analyses, we identified key risks, proposed tailored actions, and outlined pathways to enhance water security. Tasks included: scoping data, reviewing lessons learned, developing methodologies, and integrating data into accessible tools. This work supported policymakers in addressing water-related SDGs and climate commitments while fostering sustainable, resilient development.
