Feasibility Study of PAPFESA (Support Programme for the Livestock Family Sector in Southern Angola) Project

The EDF-funded PAPEFSA supports the government of Angola (Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) in the enhancement of the private livestock sector in two central and three southern provinces of Angola. PAPEFSA support programme is justified by the crucial role that livestock production is playing in regional family economy.

hydrophil contributed to the gender and institutional analysis as well as conception of the institutional arrangement of the PAPEFSA project water component "Improving access to water and pasturage for communities of herdsman in transhumance in the South of Angola (Huila, Namibe, Cunene)". The analysis has been based on interviews with stakeholders with the aim to identify possible actions for ensuring gender equity.

The main objective was to enhance the role of women in the project and empowerment of women in the decision making process in the representative provincial office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
