Project objectives
This project aimed at strengthening the Ugandan model through further development of the capacities of the 5 Umbrella Organisations (UOs) by harnessing the experiences and know-how of several Austrian partners: the International Association of Water Supply Companies in the Danube River Catchment Area (IAWD), the Applicant, together with four Austrian water sector organisations (Upper Austria WaterVienna WaterworksAustrian Association for Gas and Water (OVGW) and Salzburg AG).

Project description
The Government of Uganda has established regional UOs to secure sustainable water supply service delivery in small towns and rural growth centres by providing support to local Water Supply and Sanitation Boards. This approach shares many aspects with solutions successfully established in the Austrian water sector.

Project specifics
The UOs’ capacities were strengthened through direct exchange with the Austrian partners with study visits to Austria, specific support actions in Uganda and internships of UO staff at Austrian institutions.
